3 Reasons You Should Enjoy an Emerald Coast Vacation in November

Don’t think that just because summer is over you can’t enjoy some time on the beach! November is a wonderful time to visit the Emerald Coast. Not only are the temperatures perfect, but you won’t have to worry as much about the crowds getting in your way of having fun! If you are searching for the perfect destination for your fall vacation, there is no better place to visit. Here are 3 reasons to take an Emerald Coast vacation in November.

1. Beautiful Weather

Weather at the beach is absolutely beautiful in November. Temperatures tend to be in the low to mid-70s, meaning you can still walk along the shore or splash in the waves without being too cold! It’s warmer during the day and gets cooler when the sun goes down, making it perfect for spending time in the water in the afternoon and taking a stroll along the beach in the evening and watching the sunset. It’s perfect weather for spending time outside! Whether it’s at the beach, strolling around the shops, dining outside — you can enjoy it all.

2. Less Crowds

One of the best parts about taking an Emerald Coast vacation in November is that it’s the least busiest time of the year! The beach will be more peaceful since it’s not peak season and you won’t have to worry about not being able to find a place to lay your towel down in the sand. There will also be less crowds in all the popular areas, which means shorter lines at restaurants, in shops, and at attractions!

3. Things to Do

Another reason to visit the Emerald Coast is all of the fun things to do! From festivals, to celebrating Thanksgiving, to kicking off the holiday season, the excitement never ends. Not only can you go shopping and explore the usual attractions, but there are special events for you to experience as well! Here are some of the most popular things to do in November:

Blues, Brews & BBQ

On Nov. 3, visit HarborWalk Village for the annual Blues, Brews & BBQ Festival! From noon to 4 p.m., you can enjoy hot barbeque, cold beer, and great entertainment! More than 15 of the area’s finest restaurants will offer samples of creative BBQ styles and signature coastal cuisines in a fun BBQ competition.

Enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner

There’s something special about spending Thanksgiving on the Emerald Coast. The area is famous for families and friends getting together to celebrate Thanksgiving. One of the most popular places to dine on this special holiday is in Destin on the Thanksgiving Feast Cruise, during which you can enjoy a delicious buffet on the water! The menu includes butter & herb roasted whole turkey with giblet gravy and pineapple-maple glazed ham, and all your favorite Thanksgiving sides, like cornbread dressing, sweet potato casserole, and green bean white cheddar casserole. Another popular Thanksgiving event is the annual Harbor Docks Thanksgiving Dinner. Each year, Charles Morgan, the owner of Harbor Docks, offers a free Thanksgiving dinner to the community! Other places to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal are Cafe Thirty-A and Vue on 30A.

Kick Off the Holiday Season

Toward the end of November, the Emerald Coast starts to kick off the holiday season! To see a beautiful array of Christmas lights, attend Sparkling Wine & Holiday Lights on Nov. 17! The streets of Baytowne Wharf will be decorated in twinkling lights, and the event will feature more than 30 champagnes and appetizers. At the end of the event, there will be the first tree lighting of the season and a choreographed light show! For more Christmas fun, visit Destin on Nov. 29 to see the 32nd Annual Christmas Tree Lighting. This event even includes a visit from Santa Claus! There will be entertainment from local choruses and musical groups, along with refreshments that are served after the lighting of the tree.
